Austin Darrell Varnum, 21, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018.
Austin was born in Savannah. He had lived most of his life in Richmond Hill and Midway.
He was a 2014 graduate of Liberty County High School Class. Austin was a constructionman in the United States Navy Reserves Seabees. He was employed by Chemtall in Riceboro, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Richmond Hill.
He was a great friend and a great brother. Austin loved to fish and hunt. He was personable and social. Most of all, he loved his family very much.
Austin is survived by his parents, Alice Varnum of Savannah, and Grady and Jeri Varnum of Port Wentworth; his brother, Benjamin Varnum (Ashley) of Newnan; his sisters, Ashley Garner (James) of Ellabell and Bethany Seals (Daniel) of Ft. Benning; his stepsister, Sarah Warlick (Justin) of Spartanburg, SC; his stepbrothers, Paul Lindley II (Bobbie) of Columbia, SC, and John Lindley of Silverdale, WA; his paternal grandmother, Sharon Boone (Joe) of Vidalia; his paternal great-grandmother, Russelle Pilgrim of Baldwin, FL; his nephew, Gunner Seals; and many friends.
Visitation was Monday evening, March 12, at Richmond Hill Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 13, at Bethel Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Richmond Hill.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please make a donation to the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society,
Richmond Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
