Herman Roscoe Bacon, age 91 passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at his home. Mr. Bacon was born in Pembroke to the late Oscar and Dorothy Bacon on May 7, 1929. He was a 1948 graduate of Pembroke High School and served the United States Army during the Korean War in Italy. Mr. Bacon was a long-time resident of Waycross and retired from the Department of Transportation as a resident engineer with over 34 years of service. He was also a land surveyor with Herman Bacon and Associates and a member of Waycross Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Bacon was an avid fisherman, bowler and a sports fan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bacon was preceded in death two brothers, Harry Olan Bacon and Russell Bacon.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Rona Jane Futch Bacon of Waycross; three sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Ruth Bacon of Blackshear, Tony and Sonia Bacon of Waycross and Randy and Lori Bacon of Fruit Grove, FL; two brothers, Felton Bacon of Macon and Larry Bacon of Pembroke; one sister Doris McCoy of Gray, GA; grandchildren, Joshua Bacon, Justin Bacon, Kelli Bacon, and Rich and Jessica Cerniglia; and two great granddaughters, Sarah Keeling and Emily Cerniglia

A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Northside Cemetery with military honors. Elder Bill Mullis will be officiating.
