McArthur "Mack" Pridgen

1944 - 2021

McArthur Pridgen, 76, of Broxton, GA passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA.

Mack was born on December 13, 1944 to the late Thomas and Ruth Pridgen in Coffee County and spent most of his life in Richmond Hill. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church which held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 54 years, Elaine Pridgen.

Mack is survived by three daughters, Angela Richardson (Richard), Teresa Smyth (Mike), and Stephanie Abshire (Brandon); brother, John Johnson; sister, Voncile Fullwood; grandchildren, Jason Gonzalez (Jenna), Ethan Richardson (Emily), Alex Gonzalez, Jared Richardson (Harley), Ashley Clover (Dylan), Aaron Richardson, and Tyler Abshire; seven great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Susan for the friendship you showed our Dad when he needed it the most.

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 1, 2021. Mack was laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Elaine in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

I liked hearing Mack talk and the sound of his voice. I believe y'all had two of the best parents children could have. The last time I got to talk with him, he talked about his faith in Jesus Christ. He was very encouraging.

I have great memories of brother Mack. He taught me how to replace brake pads on my first car, in the pouring rain. I remember the way he could pray in our church at Daniel Baptist. He always had an encouraging word for us know it all teenage boys. Pain and loss have their voice but in Jesus never the last say.

Hoping that comfort and peace may find their ways to the family. Angie, Teresa and Stephanie...truly saddened to hear of your dad's passing. I have many fond memories of him. He used to let me sit in the passenger seat of his old truck when I was a kid and we would talk about it while we waited for everyone to "get done" at Daniel on Sundays...sometimes Wednesdays. It seems so long ago now, but I still remember, and the world was a better place with him in it. He was good man. I also think I recall him and Elaine singing a "special' every now and then...
