Scott Alan Sainz, 62, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, passed away a true warrior after a long battle with cancer on February 8, 2021.

Scott, originally from Valdosta, Georgia, was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and Pop Pop. A charismatic man, with an infectiously, positive personality, Scott, or "Ooper" as he was so fondly remembered, was an accomplished, long-time salesman with a knack for never meeting a stranger. Always striving to help others, he was unselfish, kind, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed all things outdoors, like bass fishing, dove hunting, gardening, and shark tooth hunting at the beach. He loved spending time with his family, playing with his granddaughter, cheering on the Florida Gators, and, of course, watching his nephew play baseball.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Louise Sainz; his mother-in-law, Doi T. Bahr; his brother-in-law, Walter "Bo" Carroll; and numerous aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jeannie; his daughter, Shelby Grizzard (Robert); granddaughter, Annalise; beloved nephew, Robert "Vito" Bahr, all of Richmond Hill; his siblings, Norman Sainz, Jr. (fiancée Tammy Denley), Shirlee Carroll, Susan Giddens, and Stephen Sainz (Melanie), all of Valdosta; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by an aunt, Betty Yale of Valdosta; and two uncles, Donald Yale of Valdosta, and Norman (Jane) Yale of Dallas.

A Funeral Mass was held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at St. Anne's Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic for Cancer Research, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, NY 55905.

Scott and I met at a training class with Kimball Midwest a few years ago. We became friends as well as co workers and I owe so much of my success to Scott. I admired Scott so much and will miss him so much. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Please accept my heart felt condolences for your loss.

I really did not know Scott very well as an adult because I grew up the older Sainz siblings. I do know how much Scott meant to them. I remember Scott’s friendliness when I would see him at Langdale Place visiting with his Mother as my own Mother lived there also. Scott’s father painted every house I ever lived in growing up. I do know about battling cancer within a family and how admirably he fought to stay with his own family as long as possible. We lift the whole Sainz family up in prayers .

Scott and Jeannie were wonderful neighbors and friends who were always there for us. We will never forget Scott’s insistence we join them and their family in Valdosta during the hurricane a few years ago! They opened their homes and hearts to us, and we are forever grateful. We are blessed beyond measure to have known Scott and their family!! Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jeannie and Shelby, with the insistence that you never hesitate to call on us for anything!
