I played hockey with Cullen for a season before he was later diagnosed. I will always remember the joy he brought to the locker room and on the ice. Although it was a long time ago, I don't recall a time when I saw Cullen not smiling. There was something extraordinary about Cullen that is too hard to explain, and which very few individuals have.

I remember lifting weights with Cullen and a few other guys a couple times a week before school in 7th and 8th grade. I specifically remember one morning when Cullen brought his dad into the weight room with him. At a time in our lives where most of us thought we were too cool to be seen with our parents, Cullen was so proud to have his dad there to watch him and help him with his exercises. His usually big smile was at its biggest that one morning. Cullen never cared what anyone thought about him, he just lived life to the fullest. Cullen Kleftis is one of the most genuine people I have ever met, not to mention the most inspiring person as well. I think about you often, Cullen, only God knows how many lives you have touched. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Kleftis Family,
Cullen was a friend of our son Steven. They met at Clarkson in their first semester and we had the privilege of having Cullen as a guest in our home for a day and a night this past summer. In the short time we were with Cullen it was readily apparent he was a very special young man. He was mature beyond his years and his smile was infectious. He was so engaging and comfortable to be around and I was so proud of my son for befriending such a wonderful young person. It was only after Cullen left for home that Steve told us he wouldn't be returning to Clarkson and that he had an illness that required him to stay close to home. We had no idea how ill he was. Cullen's passing has profoundly impacted my wife Linda and I. As we read the history of Cullen's illness, we are humbled by the strength and courage he exhibited. We can't begin to fathom the depth of your loss. God bless you all.

Dear Kleftis Family,
I didn't know your son, Cullen, but I didn't have to, so many people have told me what a great young many he was. He always made other people feel good, what a blessing. My son, Brendan went to school with Cullen, and is saddened by his loss, who isn't. May God Bless all of You.

Bill and Sandy,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you on this day. We are so honored to have known your family and Cullen; what a truely wonderful son you had and he will live on a bit in all of us. All those time picking him up and taking him to the hockey games was something Jim, Ryan and I will not forget he was so entertaining but always the voice of reason when Ry got down on himself! We have followed his story and see that he fought a great battle and never gave up-his strength was part of his makeup. His tatoo alone told us he was prepared and that should be comforting for all who knew him. May God bless you and your family and my you have comfort in knowing that you raised a wonderful young man.
With love!

There are those whose lives death cannot diminish. Their Love radiates forever in the hearts of friends and loved ones, and their light shines on in the lives they've touched. Cullen was that person to us at Marian Medical, who, even though we are heartbroken, feel so blessed to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. His neverending grin, legacy of courage and kindness will never be forgotten. Rest with the Angels, our dear friend, Cullen.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal.
Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

If I had to describe Cullen to someone who'd never known of him, things like huge spirit, amazing soul, wise beyond years, full of positive energy and truely kind to the world around him would be the things I would say.
The world around us, was better because he was here. He not only amazed us all, but took the time to be there for others, in spite of how much he had to contend with physically and emotionally. We can all learn so much from someone whose time here was far too brief.
There are no words to say that can ease the pain we are all feeling. Prayers, thoughts and memories....
what an incredible young man.
I'll never hear that song "Bad to the Bone" without thinking of both Cullen, and that great singing Nolen did at the benefit.
Cullen, we will miss you terribly, now and always.

Cullen was an excellant young man. He rode in my car to hockey practices with my son. I'll never forget how much he wanted to succeed and do well in everything he did. He couldn't understand why anyone would not want to be their best. He was smart, did well in school and pushed himself on the ice like nobody else I ever saw play hockey. An excellant excellant young man. The world is better for having had Cullen here. Now heaven is better also. Thank God we will see him again.

To Cullen's family, we are very sorry for your terrible loss. You must be very proud of such a fine young man. Our deepest sympathy, From the team at Physical Therapy in Manheim, PA.

I never knew Cullen personally. But I would see him walking in the hallways of Cedar Crest and his grin never showed how truly strong he was. I shudder to think of times when I thought I had it rough when your brilliant son was by far one of the strongest youths I have ever encountered.
Sincerely,
A fellow CCHS alumni

I remember meeting Cullen in Ms. Domalakes' 7th grade class. I will never forget the laughs we shared with him and all of the friends he was always surrounded by. No matter what happened or how bad of a day I was having he could always make me smile. You will be missed, but your memories will live on forever. Love you, miss you and I will be seeing again.

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Cullen, I "knew" him from "Antjude to CRiley" on the Osteosarcoma list. The shining light of love in your family was always evident, and Cullen was lucky to have all of you by his side. I lost my younger brother Jaime Schwerin, to Osteo just 6 months ago. While I certainly will not say I feel your pain, I am familiar with what you have gone through and what you are facing now. I wish you strength, peace, and send much love your way. Take comfort in the love you shared and know that love is forever. Ann-Noelle, sister to my beloved Jaime, osteo angel

I had the BIGGEST crush on Cullen. Tall, pretty eyes, handsome, hockey player... what wasn't to love! I'll never forget at a 7th grade dance I made my friends go ask him if he would dance with me. I was too shy to ask for myself. He said yes and he was my very first slow dance. We danced to all my life by kc and jojo.
Cullen was such an amazing kid. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I bet hes up there playing hockey or hunting already. Pain free!

Good afternoon,
I am so sorry for your loss of this wonderful young man. I work at Clarkson University. I remember the day he came into my office (limping) and asked how he could join Hockey intermurals. No one would have ever known the battle he was fighting.Take comfort in the words you have written so well about your oldest child. I know that part of his spirit will be with all of you the rest of your lives.
Respectfully Submitted,

All of his fellow classmates are truely sorry for the loss.
