Leslie Freas Obituary

Leslie H. (Hamilton) Freas of Mount Laurel, N.J. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020. She was 63.

Leslie was born and raised in Salisbury, Md. before moving to Mount Laurel 35 years ago. She passionately worked as an ER nurse, and ultimately transitioned to working as a hospice nurse later in her career.

Leslie was the consummate caretaker, and devoted her life to helping her children and the lives of others. She was an avid fisherwoman through the years, and was not shy about out-fishing anyone who joined her. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends, and will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind.

Leslie is survived by her children, Ashley, Adam, Kendall; sister, Laura Hamilton; twin sister, Linda Hamilton; her brother, Ford Hamilton; stepbrother, Jeffrey Payne; and grandchildren, Luna Bo and Ollie.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, N.J. Final disposition will be private.

Memorial contributions in Leslie's name may be made to Samaritan Hospice at samaritannj.org/giving.

I don't know how I missed this. It is 2022 today, and I have just heard this sad sad news. I met Leslie twice in my life. Once in the emergency room where she worked on my then very young son. And also when I worked at Shop Rite. She would always stop to chat with me for several minutes. She was so lovely and always made me feel that she cared about what I had to say. Although I never reallly ''knew'' her, I was always so happy to see her. I am sooo saddened today to hear of her passing. She was an angel on earth for sure.

I will always remember you, Leslie. I just found out about your passing. I was glad you were one of my Emergency Room nurses back in July of 1998. That's when after a week at the hospital in Mount Holly, I was transferred by ambulance to Temple University Medical Center in Philly where I was put on a Heart Transplant List. Before the holidays that year, you invited me to your home and I got to meet your famous identical twin sister, Linda. We kept in touch for a while over the phone, but I first met you at the hardware store nearby. When I was about to leave, both you and Linda gave me a kiss good-bye on the lips. May you rest in heavenly peace. :'(

Wow. I am so shocked and saddened to see this. I met Leslie several years ago while playing Words With Friends. We started chatting thru the game and became instant friends. We got to know so very many intimate details of each other's lives during those years. She helped me so much during a really rough time in my life when I lost several family members close together. One of them being my sweet 60 year young sister a little over a year ago. Leslie was basically right there with me the whole time texting. We never met. Never even talked on the phone. Only chatted thru the game and texted. She was one heck of a word with friends player! We had a big disagreement and parted ways around the May/June timeframe last year. It was a very shocking disagreement and we were both very floored we were having it. Now finding out about her passing it makes me sad that we had parted ways. Especially over stupid stuff. She was always so very excited when going to see her sister Linda. And when I lost my sister she told me she would be my sister. And she was always so very very proud of all of her children. She was so intelligent and she took care of everyone else and always put the needs of others before her own needs. We talked about God quite a bit so I take some comfort that I know she is in heaven. Many prayers of comfort for her family. I know this has to be so extremely hard on them all.

My sincerest heart felt condolences.

I don't know what to say. I just found out about Leslie's death and I am so sorry for your loss. I wish to extend my love and prayers for her family. Leslie and I went to WMC together and she was a very special friend. Right before her wedding, she called me and, in a blink of an eye, she convinced me to go to Florida for a "girl's trip". She could always convince me to join in because she brought joy to almost every encounter. I remember, when she decided to become a nurse, how surprised I had been because there was a time when she would almost faint if someone she loved was bleeding. But she turned that around and used her empathy and compassion to become caring, professional and wonderful as a nurse. That was her way, she excelled at whatever she set her mind to do and yet always remainded a sweet and beautiful woman. I hope your memories of her comfort you and help during this difficult time. I will miss her.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your beloved mother, daughter, sister, twin and friend. I lost my identical twin two years ago. Linda- there is a support group for twinless twins on Facebook. I’m not one to join a group like that- especially on social media, but it really helps to have the group as you navigate through this pain. Especially through the year of firsts. My heart goes out to all of you.

So sad to hear this today. I would have attended the services on Saturday. Leslie was an angel who came into my life at the perfect time, choosing me to be the nanny for her three beautiful children while I was waiting for the birth of my first child. She accepted both me and my son with with open arms and heart. I will never forget the difference she made in my life. Ashley, Adam and Kendall, I hope you are happy and healthy and doing well. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Leslie was one of a kind. She really could read the room or a person. She was sensitive to others and how they were feeling. Her warmth and tenderness was what made her excell in her work. Leslie made you feel like she knew you and really cared about you. We also laughed alot together and she just got me. My three children also had the pleasure of meeting her and spending time with her. When they heard of her passing they all immediately said how much they remembered her kindness and warmth and how she made people feel special. She will be missed by all who knew her. May her spirit of love and compassion live on in all of us. Sending peace and love to her family.

I am so sorry for her family and their loss. I am from her home town of Salisbury, MD. I work at Wor-Wic Community College where her Dad, Chief Payne, had been the head of the police academy and heard she and her twin sister, Linda, on occasion stopped to see him but I always missed the opportunity to meet Linda.
My husband was just a few years behind Leslie & Linda at Wicomico High School and Ì am a huge fan of the Beauty and the Beast TV series. One day while at Sam's Club pharmacy, I saw Leslie, thinking it was Linda. I begged her pardon for bothering her but told how much I loved her in that show and other movies. She explained she was Leslie but would tell her sister. I felt so bad for bothering her but she was so nice. What a sad loss for this world. My sincerest sympathies for all of her family.
