GEORGE O. JETTE - BURLINGTON - George O. Jette, of Burlington, died on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013. He was born in Swanton on Feb. 23, 1927, the son of Oswald and Adelina (Trahan) Jette. After graduation from high school, George served with the Merchant Marines. He then joined the U.S. Army and served in World War II and the Korean War. On Aug. 31, 1957, he married the former Lois Black in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Lois predeceased him on March 5, 2007. George had been employed with New England Telephone Company for over 33 years. He was a parishioner of St. Mark's Parish, a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, DeGoesbriand Council # 279, and a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #916. He was an avid golfer and was a member at Williston Country Club for many years. George appreciated his many friends from the Telephone Company, the Elks Club, the McDonald's Breakfast Group, and a number of neighbors and friends who extended so many kindnesses to him. A special thanks is given to HomeShare Vermont who provided loving care to George these past few years, especially Bruce Favreau and Kim Fletcher. A tremendous thanks is extended to Lena Cannizzaro who, with her physical therapy skills, provided compassionate care and comfort to George. George is survived by his brother, Roger Jette and wife, Virginia, of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Lois, he was predeceased by six sisters and a brother. There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church in Burlington, with burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. Remembering a very sweet and gentle man! We have had the honor of sharing our lives for over 50 years with George! We have shared so many great events and humbled by sorrow times but for his friendships we will be forever greatful . We love you and will miss you. May you be embracing your beautiful Lois, once again. Peace and love always.....
