MARTHA WENZ - BURLINGTON - Martha Wenz passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at her home in Burlington. She was born on Feb. 19, 1922, in Woodbridge, N.J., the daughter of William and Mary (Krupa) Kowalczyk. She graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1939. She then began her long career as an administrative assistant. Martha traveled extensively as an Army wife, living in Germany and Japan, Virginia, Texas, and Oklahoma. She settled in Burlington, Vt. in 1962, and became an Administrative Assistant at UVM, retiring after 22 years of service. She enjoyed playing tennis, watching golf, swimming, reading and traveling. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Reilly and her husband, John, of Vienna, Va.; two granddaughters, Molly and David Healy of Marblehead, Mass., and Anne and Brent Russell of Chattanooga Tenn.; two great-grandsons, Cian and Lochlain Healy of Marblehead, Mass.; sister, Eleanor Meyers of New York; and brother, William Kowalczyk of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Cathedral, 85 Elmwood Ave., Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vermont Flood Relief, VT and the N.H. Valley Red Cross, 29 Mansfield Ave., Burlington, VT 05401.
