Obituary Condolences

AGATHA C. JAMES - BRISTOL - Agatha C. James, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at her home in Bristol after a short illness. She was born July 21, 1924, in Sandisfield, Mass., the daughter of Olimpio and Augusta (Zaccara) Cartinelli. After graduating from high school in Sheffield, Mass., she was employed as a nurse's aide in a hospital in Middletown, Conn., where she met and married her husband of 51 years, Frank P. James. They started a family in Middletown, Conn., and then moved to Bristol, Vt., in 1965 and opened Frank and Aggies Laundromat and Photo Finishing Shop the following year, and operated it for 18 years. Agatha also worked at the Van Raalte and Drake Smith Wood factories. Over the years, Agatha enjoyed oil painting, going to Bingo with friends, being an active member of the Bristol American Legion Post 19 Ladies Auxiliary, and played on a local bowling league while raising her family. Agatha loved her family deeply and was always interested and supportive and made each one of us feel special. She always cared about others needs first, and loved to bake special treats for our enjoyment. She and her husband retired to Florida in 1984, and Agatha returned to Vermont in 1999 to be with her family after her husband's passing. She is survived by three sons, Frank James Jr. and wife, Veronica, Robert James, Gary James and wife, Barb, all of Bristol; daughter, Sally Rublee of Bradenton, Fla.; five sisters, Augusta Bugaj of Middletown, Conn., Nancy and husband, Richard Bunce, of Laconto, Fla., Shirley and husband, Carl Delong, of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Marcia Patterson of Sandisfield, Mass., and Patricia and husband, Frank Goslee, of Lakeside, Conn.; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Cartinelli and Babbs Cartinelli of Sheffield, Mass.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank James Sr.; three sisters, Betty, Gina, and Carol; and four brothers, Benjamin Rotondo, Richard Cartinelli, David Cartinelli, and Olimpio "Juni" Cartinelli Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at St. Ambrose Church in Bristol. Interment will be in Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice, P.O.
