CAROLYN E. MURRAY - MILTON - Carolyn E. Murray, 68, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, April 13, 2012, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born on Oct. 7, 1943, in Burlington, the daughter of Daniel (Bud) O'Brien and Evelyn (Ratta) Casey. On March 4, 1966, she married Philip Murray in Elizabethtown, N.Y. Carolyn owned and operated Pete's Ice Cream in Burlington and McCasey's Pub in Essex for many years. Until recently, she owned and operated the Lake Road Day Care in Milton, where she was like a grandmother to all the children. Carolyn had wonderful memories of traveling with her beloved husband, Philip, to casinos, Florida, Hawaii and many camping trips. She enjoyed family gatherings and chatting with her family on the phone for hours. She also enjoyed watching hours of tennis. And, we can't forget Bingo. She is survived by her loving husband of over 46 years, Philip; daughter and best friend, Lisa Cummings and her husband, Robin, of Milton; beloved son, Philip Murray Jr. and his wife, Aneda Ross, of Highgate; mother, Evelyn Casey of Burlington; grandchildren, Dustin, Zachary, Vallary, Hillary, and Aivvary; sisters, Judy Kirby of Shelburne, Sharron Saunders of Essex Junction, and Barbara Willard and her partner, Todd Gokey, of Milton; brother-in-law, Larry Murray and wife, Diane, of Burlington; brother-in-law, Patrick Murray and wife, Kathy, of Georgia, Vt.; sister-in-law, Janet LeClair and husband, Roger, of Hooksett, N.H.; uncle, Sonny and Marcia of San Diego, Calif.; special aunt and uncle, Elaine and Howard Kirby of Essex Junction; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will also be missed by her special cat, Minou. She was predeceased by her father, Bud O'Brien; stepfather, Wayne Casey; brother, Steven Sousie; grandmother, Eileen Proulx; and brother-in-law, Howard Kirby. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. David Little for the passionate and kind care given to Carolyn throughout her courageous battles; and also, the team at the Hemotology/Oncolgy Unit at Fletcher Allen, with extra thanks to her nurse, Maureen, who Carolyn thought of as a good friend. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery in Milton.
