JOANNE PAULETTE CHAMPAGNE - GRAND ISLE - JoAnne Paulette Champagne, of Grand Isle, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family, at their home. JoAnne was born June 27, 1953, in Ottawa, Ontario, the daughter of the late Roy and Jackie St. Amour Lepage. On July 2, 1993, she married Bill Champagne in South Hero. She and Bill owned and operated the A&B Beverage in Grand Isle. JoAnne was on the Board of Directors of the Island Chamber of Commerce and the Island Center for Arts and Recreation as well as a member of the Grand Isle Fire Department Auxiliary. JoAnne loved outdoor activities, such as fishing in the streams of the Adirondacks, scuba diving in the seas of Bonaire, and golfing on the many courses throughout Vermont. JoAnne just loved to entertain her family and friends and her sense of humor and open heart welcomed us all. JoAnne is survived by her husband, Bill, of Grand Isle; and her daughters, Claudette Vaughan and husband, Ross, of Bristol and their children, April, Brittany and Michaela, and their grandchildren, Alanah and Breanne, and Michelle Sendra and husband, Kevin, of Grand Isle and their children, Auburn and Dresden; her brother, Don Lepage and wife, Denyse, of Cumberland, Ontario; her mother-in-law, Marion Champagne of South Hero; her sisters-in-law, Andrea Champagne and husband, Scot Prescott, of South Hero, Teresa Abell and husband, Scott, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Nancy Turner and husband, Tony, of Louray, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, JoAnne was predeceased by her father-in-law, Andre Champagne. Please join us for a Memorial Celebration of JoAnne's life, Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at 1 p.m., at the North Hero House Pier on beautiful Lake Champlain in North Hero. The family is very grateful to Nancy, Maureen, and Paula for the extra special care they provided in her final days. We also want to thank her caregivers from the VNA, Betsy, Kim, Louise, Mary, and Celine. A very special thank you to Nurses Jean and Julie and the Nurse Practitioner, Janet Ely; Dr. Thomas Roland and Dr. Steven Grunberg; and JoAnne's scheduler at the Fletcher Allen, Roxie, who are all proof positive that there are angels among us.
