LAURIE CHRISTINE DIETZEL, Ph.D. - HYATTSVILLE, Md. - Laurie Christine Dietzel, Ph.D. passed from this life on Jan. 15, 2015. Her life was full of learning, living and loving. Her immediate family of her spouse, Claude Allen, and daughter, Emma, continue life in Hyattsville, Md., and her extended family continue life in Essex Junction, Vt., and Brooklyn, N.Y. Her life began in Michigan, then to Essex Junction for childhood and undergraduate study, and on to Hyattsville, Md., for extended graduate study and residence. Her work and extended practice include the publication of "Late, Lost and Unprepared: A Parent's Guide to Helping Children with Executive Functioning," translated into other languages and that continues to give parents and teachers essential information, skills and support that enhance children's growth and learning mastery. Her gifted intellect found expression in mathematics, science, writing and language arts that balanced well with her deep sensitivity, wonderful intensity, quick wit, spontaneity, wellevolved executive functioning and clarity. She learned quickly and was accepting and helpful to others whose learning style and pace were unique to hers. Her greatest accomplishments were her relationships of thoughtfulness, caring, support, trust and love with her spouse, daughter, family, friends, colleagues and clients. She loved life, as short and full as it was. She is greatly missed. Her life, spirit and legacy live on forever. An educational fund for her daughter, Emma Allen, has been established in her memory.
