Leon Michael Seals Sr. Obituary
Leon Michael Seals, Sr.

Saint Albans - On the morning of 21 November we said goodbye to our wonderful and loving father Leon Michael Seals, Sr. Many of us were so fortunate to spend the previous evening with him, talking, laughing, and just enjoying time spent with our dad. And as if for his last kind gesture on this earth and to ease our pain, he passed away very peacefully the next morning in his sleep. We are all secure in the knowledge that he has now moved on to a wonderful place full of peace and eternal happiness. Our Dad had a long and remarkable life. He leaves behind a large and grateful family; Rinette, his loving wife for over 60 years; sons Michael, Greg, Jeff, Sean, and Roberto; daughters Anna and Laura; grandsons Christopher, Jeffrey, Brendan, Shane, and Cole; granddaughters Jackie, Jenny, Katie, Abigail, and Alexis; and great granddaughters Natalie, Audrey, Lilliana, Zoey, Savannah, and Peyton as well as great grandsons Trenton, Hunter and Blake. He was pre-deceased by granddaughter Amanda.

Dad was born on October 20, 1935, in Evans City, PA. He was raised by his mother, who he adored, and spent his childhood growing up in Bridgeville, PA. He was a superb baseball pitcher in high school, where he got the nickname of "Shane". After high school he enlisted in the air force and was stationed at Loring Air Force Base in northern Maine. It was during his time there that he met and soon married his sweetheart Rinette Paradis on August 4, 1958. Leon became an air traffic controller upon leaving the air force. He had a long and successful career as an air traffic controller, moving to Cleveland, Ohio; Louisville, KY; and Underhill, VT along the way, while always providing well for his ever-growing family.

Leon was an avid golfer and enjoyed nothing better than spending time on a golf course with his sons, daughter Anna, and grandson Christopher. He enjoyed deer hunting in both the northern Pennsylvania and Vermont woods. His favorite spot in Pennsylvania was near Kelly Pines, where he went for several years with his twin sons Greg and Jeff. The highlight of those trips came in the mid-90's, after several years of being skunked, when both he and Greg came home with a buck on the same trip! He had a lifelong love of growing and planting things; always transforming any new home into a more beautiful place; making them a better place for him having lived there. In addition to the landscape he loved to grow vegetables, and whether big or small, each of his homes included a garden where he and Rinette spent many happy hours together. He loved to travel and went on several cruises with his family over the years. Leon was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and you count on him cheering on his beloved Steelers on every Sunday during football season; always being accompanied by family. Steeler touchdowns were always noisy around the Seals household!

Thank you, Dad, for your years of hard work and sacrifice. Thank you for being a true example of what a great husband and father should be. Thank you for providing all of us with everything we needed to grow and build successful and happy lives of our own. Thank you for being our Dad!

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, 26 November 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans, VT 05478 followed by a celebration of his life at 7:00 PM.
