Richard E. "Dick" Lesage

Age: 75 • Colchester

Richard E. Lesage, 75 of Colchester, former longtime resident of Winooski passed away Thurs, Sept.28th from heart complications at the UVM Medical Center surrounded by family. He was the eldest son of late Ernest Sr. and Albertine (Quennville). He was born at Fanny Allen in Colchester. He married MaDonna Martin in 1963.

He owned and operated Lesage Fuel, Plumbing, Heating and Lesage Apartments for his entire adult life. He was a veteran of the US Army National Guard for 15 years and the US Air National Guard for 6 years. He was a volunteer fire fighter for 27 years on the Winooski Fire Department. He was a member of the American Legion, Retired Veterans Association and Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight.

He volunteered for many causes including Sunday church breakfasts and stocking the fish pond. His generosity towards others was limitless.

He loved his morning get togethers with friends. His hobbies were working, talking about Winooski History, hunting, fishing, planting trees, feeding his birds and tinkering. He loved nature and walking in it, especially basking in the warm sun. He enjoyed humor and always had a joke to share with everyone. He would make weekly visits to his sick friends and bring them gifts and conversation. He will be sorely missed by many.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, MaDonna, daughter Mary Ann (Dave) Burlingame of Winooski, son Thomas Lesage of Winooski, grandchildren Jared and Lee-Ann Burlingame also of Winooski, and his best buddy granddog Wyatt. Also survived by his siblings and their spouses Blanche Boissy of Winooski, Andrew (Sandra) Lesage of Burlington, Virginia Lesage of Colchester, Judy (Robert) McGonis of Barre, Ernest Lesage Jr. previously from Fairfax, Marie Lesage of Colchester, sister-in-law Stephanie Lesage of Colchester, brother-in-law Gerald Martel of Orleans, many extended family members and very close friends.

He was predeceased by siblings, Pauline, Bernadette and Peter.

Dick, as everyone called him, stated he wanted no visiting hours. He wanted people to remember him in how they shared his life together.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, St. Peter Street, Winooski, VT on Thursday October 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
