Morrisville - Rudolph Ignatius Loyola, 89, of Morrisville, VT, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on January 5, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction. Rudy was born March 7, 1929 in Manhattan, NY and raised at St. Agnes Catholic Orphanage in Sparkhill, NY. He graduated from Tappan Zee High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War era as a barber and medic.

In 1960, Rudy married Elvira Friedrich. They moved to Flushing, NY where he opened his first barbershop. In 1969 he moved his wife, four children and business to Morrisville, VT where he dedicated his life to family, faith and community service.

Organizations benefiting from his tireless fundraising and volunteer work included, Rotary Club where he served as President, and received the Paul Harris Award; Holy Cross Parish Council; Founding member of the Morrisville Credit Union; Knights of Columbus; Johnson State College Athletic Department, where he was inducted into the Class of 1999 Sports Hall of Fame as an honorary member; VFW; Morrisville Recreation; Hardwick Boxing Club; Cemetery Commissioner; Morrisville Soccer Club, "Rudy's Rowdies"; and Boy Scouts of America. In 2004 Rudy was honored with the Lamoille County Citizen of the Year Award.

Rudy is survived by Elvira, his wife of 58 years, their four children and eight grandchildren: Theresa and husband, Carl Fortune of Morrisville, VT and their children, Natalie and Luke Fortune; Peter Loyola of Saratoga NY, and his children, Caroline and Gray Loyola; Mark and wife, Andrea Loyola of Ludwigsburg, Germany and his son, Dominik Loyola; Andrew and wife, Amy Loyola of Denver, CO and their children Max, Isabel and Benjamin Loyola. Rudy was predeceased by his parents Manuel and Eloise Servian Loyola and in 2013 his brother, Manuel Loyola of Garden City Park, NY. Rudy was an avid lover of good food, Red Sox baseball, music, theater, dancing, boxing and above all, serving others.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00am at The Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 367 Brooklyn St., Morrisville, VT. Visitation will be held Friday, January 25, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Faith Funeral Home, 165 Brooklyn St. Morrisville, VT.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rudy's memory may be made to the Knights of Columbus Council #5041 or Morrisville Rotary Club District 7850.
