BRYAN JAY POWERS - ST. ALBANS - After battling a long illness, Bryan Jay Powers, 63, died May 17, 2015, with his loving family by his side. A native of St. Albans and a 1971 graduate of BFA, he was born Oct. 28, 1951, the son of Florence and James Powers and the brother of Mark. He was married to Dale (Martell) Powers on Sept. 21, 1974, whom he leaves behind with daughter, Kelly and her husband, Keith Wakefield, of Fairfax; and son, Nathan and his special friend, Kali Bilodeau, of St. Albans. He also leaves behind the multitude of nephews, nieces and friends associated with his second family - the Martells of St. Albans. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Bryan served aboard the USS Nitro before being honorably discharged in 1976. He returned to Vermont to work at IBM in Essex Junction from 1978-2002. Bryan served as board member for the St. Albans Historical Society and volunteered at Martha's Kitchen. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 21, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans. His funeral will be held Friday, May 22, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 29 Congress St., St. Albans. Messages of condolence to Bryan's family are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.
