Caitlyn Marie Kaufman, 26, of Lebanon, Tenn., formerly of Chicora, died tragically Dec. 3, 2020, in Nashville, Tenn. Caitlyn's loved ones mourn the unexpected loss of their daughter, sister and friend.

She was born May 12, 1994, in Butler, to Rick and Diane Onufrak Kaufman.

Caitlyn was a 2012 graduate of Butler High School. She continued her education at Clarion University, graduating in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in athletic training. In 2018, she received a nursing degree from Butler County Community College. In addition to her scholastic achievements, Caitlyn was a collegiate athlete, active on the Clarion University dive team for four years.

She worked as an intensive care nurse at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville for two years. Caitlyn was an exceptional nurse, receiving, in her first year, two Daisy awards for "Extraordinary Nursing" in acknowledgment of her commitment, talent and compassion as a nurse.

She was loved by many, and anyone who knew Caitlyn recognized that she was selfless and kind. She loved spending time outdoors with her family, friends and dog, Zeus, water skiing, lake surfing and "buggy" riding. She was a constant source of positivity and truly lit up a room with her presence.

Caitlyn's family and friends will miss her more than words can say, but she will remain in their hearts forever.

Caitlyn is survived by her mother, Diane Kaufman and her father, Rick Kaufman, of Chicora; her brother, Tyler Kaufman and his fiancée, Alysa Lovich, of Valencia; and her chosen Tennessee family, Macey and Andrew Martin, Morgan Vallett, Cade Brown, and Matt and John, all of Lebanon, Tenn.

She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler, where a Mass of Christian burial was celebrated.

KAUFMAN - Arrangements for Caitlyn Marie Kaufman, who died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, were entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
