George Bristen Obituary

George Bristen
George Bristen, 84, of Renfrew died Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 22, 1920, in Butler, he was a son of Michael and Tillie Bristen.
He had worked at Armco-Butler Works for 17 years. While at Armco, he earned his bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He then taught business courses at Moniteau High School until his retirement. He also had taught evening classes at Butler County Community College for several years, worked for Nationwide Insurance as a claims adjuster and helped manage the Lyndora Bakery.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora, the Men's Club at his church, Michael Kosar American Legion post 778, the Pennsylvania State Education Association and was a life member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed gardening and golfing.
Mr. Bristen was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Kaschik Bristen, whom he married May 30, 1953; a son, George P. Bristen and his wife, Deborah, of Fenelton; a brother, John Bristen of Pittsburgh; a brother-in-law, John Olen of Lyndora; a sister-in-law, Anna Kaschik of Butler; and a number of nephews
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Michael Bristen.
BRISTEN - Friends of George Bristen, who died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Avenue, Lyndora. The Rev. Dennis Bogda will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Parastas services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bristen was one of the nicest teachers at Moniteau High School. I will never forget the kind words he expressed to me one day when things were not going very well at all for me. He truly cared for his students. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
