Thomas C. Schneider Jr., 82, of Chicora passed away on Sunday in the emergency room of Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 22, 1936, in Butler, and was the son of the late Thomas C. Schneider Sr. and the late Josephine Whitten Schneider.
Thomas was a graduate of Butler High School.
He went on to receive his bachelor's degree in anthropology at the University of Oklahoma. He received his master's in modern European history from Duquesne University and a master's of anthropology from Penn State University.
He taught world cultures at California University and anthropology sociology at the University of Scranton. Thomas worked in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in investigations for 20 years at the Boyers mine.
He served in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant in the 82nd Airborne Rangers from 1959 until 1964.
Thomas enjoyed reading and living life to the fullest.
He is survived by three daughters, Betsy (Bob) Charney of Clarks Summit, Pa., Nikki (Ron) Lowe of Tunkhannock, Pa., and Jennifer Kearney of Clarks Summit; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved partner of 29 years, Anne Pistorius of Chicora.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas C. Schneider III; and a sister, Mary Jo Fitler.
SCHNEIDER - Friends of Thomas C. Schneider Jr., who died Sunday, May 12, 2019, will be received from 4 p.m. until the time of the blessing service at 7 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
Full military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 117, American Legion Post 778, Lyndora, and VFW Post 249.
