WARKENTIN, Edward Herman
May 20, 1932 - November 17, 2014
Ed passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Monday, November 17, surrounded by his loving family. He was an easy-going soul who loved life to the fullest. His greatest joys came from spending time with family, being outdoors and travelling. Ed had an amazing work ethic and was a crane operator for over 40 years in Calgary with local 955. Ed is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley; his daughter Heather (Cam); and son Dwayne (Shari); as well as five grandchildren Dylan (Jen), Shelsey (Tony), Cassidy, Kate and Ryan; three great-grandchildren Hayleigh, Sam and Carlo; and brother Nick (Jean). He was predeceased by his sons Darryl and Troy; as well as his parents Justina and Jacob. Ed was also predeceased by his siblings Liz, Kay, Anna, Jake, Betty, Irvin and Heidi. A Celebration of Ed's Life will be held in January 2015. The family invite you to share stories and photos of Ed through www.choicememorial.com where service details will be updated once confirmed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Children's Hospital (www.childrenshospital.ab.ca), as per Ed's wishes. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Choice Memorial & Cremation Services.

For my Mighty Uncle Ed Warkentin

Every one knows Grandad was the strongman in the family, but secretly I knew you were physically stronger. You have carried your wife Shirley uprightly beside you for all the years with the strength a true man receives from the bracing of his beloved spouse. You have supported your daughter Heather and son Dwayne with the firmness and love only a man of caliber such as your self could give. The family that has flourished from your endowment of sustance, has many a measure of nobility to thank you for. From myself Uncle Ed I thank you for the stability and security offered to a young single Mother for her son. The quiet force that could silence a room of cousins with one firm shout and the greatest strawberry and whip cream crapes I have ever had. I love you Uncle Ed and you are surely missed and have never and will never be forgotten by those who's hearts your robust laugh and great tan have had the fortune to behold. Love Darren
