John Nesbitt, beloved husband of Wendy Nesbitt of Calgary, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the age of 87 years. John was born in Gull Lake, SK. He was educated in Paris, ON, the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Western Ontario where he graduated with a business degree. John spent most of his career in the oil and gas industry as a Petroleum Landman, at Great Plains Oil Company and later Norcen Oil. He was an early member of the Landman's Association, the Glencoe Club where he enjoyed curling and a long-time member of Knox United Church. He volunteered with the Girl Guides Association and the Post Polio Society. John was known as a resource for borrowed tools and always fixing flat tires when he resided in the community of Elbow Park. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Besides his loving wife of fifty-eight years, John is survived by three daughters, Janet Nesbitt, Margot Nesbitt both of Calgary and Liz Nesbitt of Rossland, BC; four grandchildren, John and Shannon Nesbitt and Mitch and Cara Lizzi. He is also survived by his brother Robert Nesbitt of Kelowna, BC; two nieces Cathy Nesbitt and her husband Richard Romolok of Kelowna, and Carol Holland and her husband Ted of Longvalley, NJ; great-niece and great- nephew, Gwendolyn and Graydon Holland; a nephew Doug Turnbull (Maureen MacPherson) of Coquitlam, BC; and sister-in- law Jean Dell of Vancouver, BC and brother- in-law David Turnbull and his wife Nancy of Toronto, ON. He was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Dr. Mary Nesbitt of Berwick, NS and his sister Margaret Arnott of Barrie, ON. At John's request a private family gathering will be held. Reuther and Kate Butler at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Dr. Robert Cole, and the staff at the Foothills Country Hospice. In living memory of John Nesbitt, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
