Gladys (Consuelo) Grande Arispe, born February 9, 1927, passed to eternal life with our Lord Jesus Christ on January 27, 2019 in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 91. She was the great-granddaughter of Francisco Grande and Maria Josefa Imperial Grande, a pioneer family that settled in Corpus Christi in the early 1800's. She was the granddaughter of Benito Grande and Cleotilde S. Ruiz Grande. Gladys was the daughter of Alfredo Ruiz Grande and Tomasita Garza Grande. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hinojosa Arispe, grandson, Jon Paul Reyes, brothers: Alfredo Grande, Sr., Alexander Garza Grande, Benito Garza Grande, sisters: Cleotilde Grande, Beatrice Grande Rodriguez, Angelica Grande Weeks, maternal grandparents: Panfilo V. Garza and Donicia Zamudio Garza.
She leaves behind her children: Joyce Arispe (Rudy) Billings of Austin, TX, Beatrice Arispe (Rudy) Reyes, Roy A. Arispe, Mary Margaret Arispe (J.D.) Ruiz of San Antonio, TX and Patricia Arispe (Lee) Verduzco. Grandchildren: Daniel J. (Kim) Alaniz, Rudy N. Reyes, Kathryn E. Reyes, Carolyn A. Arispe, Jared A. Ruiz, Jordyn A. Ruiz, Abel L. Verduzco, Joshua J. Verduzco, Jonathan Verduzco and Aaron Verduzco. Great-grandchildren: Adrianna J. Alaniz (Preston) Danna, Avery, Ava and Autumn Verduzco. Numerous nieces and nephews whom were all loved and cherished.
Gladys was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend to all. She loved her husband and family. She worked hard to provide the best of herself in all she did. She was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, enjoyed cooking, quilting, journaling, gardening, swimming, crafting, bowling and spending time with her family.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 4, 2019 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
