JoAnna Marie Chapa, age 28, entered eternal rest early Monday morning on July 9, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 22, 1990 in Alice, Texas to Jose Chapa Jr. and Anna Isabel Lozano Chapa. JoAnna was dedicated to her education. She was a Premont High School graduate - Class of 2008 and pursued a career in Social Work where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the Texas A&M University in Kingsville and a Master's degree in Social Work from University of Texas in San Antonio. Her passion and devotion was helping children. She was employed with the Communities in Schools - Corpus Christi Independent School District and was the Coordinator of Driscoll Middle School in Corpus Christi. She leaves behind to cherish her memories many precious aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, a large 4-H family, and her Driscoll Middle School Family. She will forever be remembered for her love for her late dog, Chico, her cat, La Fred, her life successes, and her contagious smile and giggles. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jose "Pepe" Chapa III.

She is survived by her loving parents, Joe and Annabel Chapa of Premont, Texas; maternal grandparents, Julian Jr. and Oralia Lozano of Concepcion, Texas; aunts, Anna Adame (the late Eddie) of Petronila, Texas, Anna Maria Tobar (Javier) of Ricardo, Texas, and Victoria Lozano (Timothy Moore) of Corpus Christi, Texas; uncle, Julian Lozano III (Ericka) of Aransas Pass, Texas; loving cousins, Hannah Adame, Javier Tobar, Benjamin Tobar, Alexandria Adame, Gabriel Lee Lozano, Emily Renea Lozano, and Julian David Lozano; numerous extended special cousins and a host of caring friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 5 till 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel in Alice with a Holy Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 13, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Premont. Burial to follow at Premont Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Arnie Gutierrez, Javier Tobar Jr., Benjamin Tobar, Cameron Nucete, Xavier Fernandez, Jon Fernandez, Ricky Gutierrez, and Javier Andrade. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gabriel Lee Lozano, Julian David Lozano, Barbie Wymore, and Rogelio Mercado.
