Maria Niño Maldonado

Corpus Christi - Maria Niño Maldonado, 88, of Corpus Christi, Texas, went to be with Our Lord on March 24, 2021. Maria was born on March 3, 1933 in Clarkwood, Texas to Benigno Niño and Rita Alvarado Niño who precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vilsen Maldonado, Sr.; her brothers, Manuel Niño and Ismael Niño. Maria was a member and acting treasurer for several years of the American GI Forum of Texas, a Congressionally chartered Hispanic veteran and civil rights organization that was founded by Dr. Hector P. Garcia in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was also a member of the Guadalupanas of the Federation of Our Lady of Guadalupe Societies - Diocese of Corpus Christi. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved gardening, sewing, and singing. She will always be with us in our hearts, prayers, thoughts, and memories.

She is survived by her daughters, Dalia M. Williams, Cristelia M. (Angel) Maldonado, Graciela M. (Charles) Perez and Linda M. Lopez; sons, Vilsen (Monica) Maldonado, Jr. and Bruno (Patricia) Maldonado; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Holy Rosary recited at 11:00 a.m. at Funeraria del Angel Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
