Dr. Olin Brynilde Vaughan passed away on December 26, 2017. Dr. Vaughan was born in Floydada, Texas November 11, 1920. He was reared in West Texas. He received his A.B. Degree from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas; his Doctor of Dental Surgery from St. Louis University; his Master of Science in Dentistry (Periodontics) at Northwestern University and his Master of Science (Orthodontics) from University of Missouri in Kansas City. He served in the Army and the Navy for a total of 4 ½ years in World War II and the Korean War, a combined 11 years.

He practiced for 5 years of time in general dentistry in Robstown, Texas and periodontics and orthodontics in Corpus Christi. All the practice together has been since 1945 until 2017.

He was a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, the Royal Society of Medicine (U.K.), Southwestern Society of Orthodontists, College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics, American Board of Orthodontics (Where he served for 22 years as an examiner), Rotary Club, the Board of Trustees of South Texas Children's Home (27 years). He taught in the post-doctoral of Texas Orthodontic Department of the University of Texas in Houston for over 10 years, and the University of Texas Orthodontic Department in San Antonio, for 9 years. Dr. Vaughan served on the Board of Directors for South Texas Children's Home for 30 years, with the Vaughan Library and Learning Center being named for him.

O.B. was a member, teacher, and deacon of First Baptist Church of Corpus Christi for 50+ years. He was a 32nd degree mason, earned alongside Mr. H.E. Butt Sr.

Dr. Vaughan is survived by his wife of 75 years (Nee Virginia Lee Hussey) and two daughters: Dr. Janet Lynn Vaughan of Corpus Christi with whom he currently practiced orthodontics; Dr. Monte Vaughan Cooper (Michael H. Cooper) of Dallas; five grandchildren, Dr. Kim Vaughan Hanysak (Dr. Bryan Hanysak) of Waco, Texas, Attorney Kurt Brynilde Arnold (Tara Arnold) of Houston, Dr. Bryn Cooper Maule (Steve Maule) of Houston, Claire Cooper of Las Angeles, and Rel Cooper of Dallas; and four great-grandchildren, Luke & Heath Hanysak of Waco; Jaxon Arnold of Houston and Merrick Maule of Houston.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at First Baptist Church.

Having the distinguished honor to be pallbearers are: M.H. Cooper, Dr. Bryan Hanysak, Kurt Brynilde Arnold, Dr. Charles Moore, Rel Cooper and Steve Maule. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Nueces Valley District Dental Society and the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Corpus Christi, Texas and Franklin Hussey of Dalhart.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to South Texas Children's Home, Beeville, or the First Baptist Church.
