Rosa Martinez Obituary
Rosa Galvan Martinez, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt went to be with her Lord, July 29, 2003. Born on September 11, 1910, she was welcomed into heaven by the love of her life, Lee Martinez Sr., her father Rafael Galvan Sr., her mothers, Ildifonsa Galvan, and Virginia Galvan, and sisters, Beatriz De La Vina, and Virginia Gonzalez. Mrs. Martinez was happiest when she was surrounded by her large family or when she was in church. She was a devout catholic. She was born into a large musical family, where her contribution was a beautiful singing voice. Recreation for the family always involved music and she loved singing while being accompanied by her brothers and sisters. Left behind to mourn her passing, celebrate her life, and enjoy her tremendous legacy of love are two sons, Lee (Josie) Martinez Jr., Freddie (Joann) Martinez, and one daughter, Terri Alaniz, all of Corpus Christi, Texas. Two sisters, Patty (Johnny) Preza, and Mamie Oliveira. Four brothers, Ralph (Jeanne) Galvan Jr., Sammy (Terry) Galvan, Eddie (Nancy) Galvan, and Bobby (Alicia) Galvan, all of Corpus Christi, Texas. Two sisters-in-law, Sophie Perez, and Mary Jane (Russell) McFarland, both from Portland, Texas. Eight grandchildren, Lee Martinez III, David Martinez, and Eric Martinez, all from San Antonio, Texas, Rosalee Alaniz (Abel) Palacios of Dallas, Texas, Freddie (Anna) Martinez Jr., Mike (Sandra) Alaniz, John (Amy) Martinez, Marc Martinez all of Corpus Christi, Texas. Ten great-grandchildren, six in Corpus Christi and quadruplets in Dallas, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she held dear to her heart. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Lee Martinez III, Freddie Martinez Jr., Mike Alaniz, David Martinez, John Martinez, Eric Martinez, Marc Martinez, and Abel Palacios. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughter, Rosalee Palacios, Ralph Galvan Jr., Sammy Galvan, Eddie Galvan, Bobby Galvan, Johnny Prezas, Russell McFarland and Avelino Ramon. Visitation will be held at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 30, 2003 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Most Precious Blood at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
