Timothy Andrews Obituary

Timothy "Tim" Andrews, 74, of Canon City, CO, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 20, 1947 in Denver, Colorado to C. Douglas and Helen (Velin) Andrews. Tim grew up in Castle Rock, CO working with his family at the Andrew Funeral Home and graduated from Douglas County High School, class of '66. After graduating, Tim moved with his family to Canon City where they opened the Andrews Funeral Home. He soon met Diane Hutton, the love of his life, whom he married in 1968 sharing 48 years before her passing in 2016. He, along with so many his age, served his country through military service and joined the Navy in 1969 serving two years active duty and four years reserve. He started working alongside his father at the funeral home and their ambulance service as a teenager and continued throughout his life. He was a coroner investigator for Douglas County, deputy coroner in Fremont County for 38 years, backup deputy coroner for Custer County, 15 years as a Nucleus for Rocky Mountain Eye Bank and 43 years as a funeral director. The Andrews family opened Mountain Vale Memorial Gardens in 1965, Fremont County's only cemetery and mausoleum combination. Serving others was Tim's very nature. In addition to serving others through funeral service, he continued serving the community as leader of Boy Scouts Troop 121, Morning Lions Club, Lifetime member of VFW Post 4061 and board member of Blossom Festival board and Christmas Parade. Tim, alongside his wife Diane worked tirelessly with the CCHS Band Boosters throughout their children's school years having raised money for new uniforms and trips abroad. Many may also remember Tim as he played Santa Claus for many years, spending half the year growing his beard out to make him the "real" Santa Claus for so many children in the community. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Mark Timothy Andrews, Michael David Andrews, Megan (M. Gabriel) Marie Konty; grandchildren, Devin (Jasmine), Levi, André (Faith), Eion, Timothy, Victoria (Kevin) Stotler, Alex, Jarid, Jordan, Kody, Cassandra; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Brantley; siblings, Cynthia Gilbreth and John J. Andrews (Carol Robinson Andrews). Service will be held 10AM, Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Mountain View Community Church, 200 Justice Center Rd, Canon City, CO. Private family entombment at Mountain Vale Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Harwood Funeral Home. Online condolences at Harwoodfunerals.com.

Tim and Diane-----what can we say-------they were an extraordinary couple who were always a friend and shared a smile, no matter the time or circumstance. This void cannot be filled, and they are greatly missed. Memories: Diane delivering Mary Kay in her clown outfit, and delivering Meals-on-Wheels to Tim.
In loving memory, we extend our families condolences to their families.
God bless the family.

Tim was a good friend of mine and he was also a good friend to almost anyone he came into contact with. He was a very special man who genuinely cared for others. He and Diane were like two peas in a pod...they were wonderful caring people. My prayers to his children for peace and comfort at this difficult time.

I have had the pleasure of knowing the Andrews Family since 1968 when I started working for Andrews Funeral Home and Ambulance Service. I have known Tim and Diane since then. I watched there three children born and grow to where they are today.

Tim and Diane have dedicated there life to this county, its citizens and the people in so many many ways. They had such a deep desire to help those in need and do what ever they could in so many many ways.

It has been my honor to know the Andrews and to be able to call them close friends.

Tim told me he was ready to go home to Diane and was at piece with all of it. Rest in peace my dear friend. You will never be forgotten. My grand children still talk about Santa coming to visit them, aka Tim. It was so special to the kids and to Tim.

I enjoyed Tim and Diane so much when we were all involved in Harrison School’s PTO. We had a lot of fun and I think we accomplished some good things while we were there! Bless them and their loved ones. They were truly good people. ❤
