Alan J. Rogers, Sr.

87, of Massillon, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. He was born on April 13, 1931, in McDonaldsville, Ohio, and was the son of Jess and Helen Rogers. They preceded him in death. Al retired from Fleming Foods where he was an accountant after 37.5 years. He was a very active member of the community, volunteering his time and leadership with the Massillon Lion's Club (past president), the various Masonic bodies and the Massillon Tiger Booster Club (past president). Big Al was an avid golfer, loved the Tigers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son,

Bruce Rogers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife, June (Caldwell) Rogers, with whom he would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on May 19th.; his son, Alan J. (Tammy) Rogers, Jr.; his daughter, Lynne Rogers; his grandchildren: Christina (James) Rogers-Cook, Melissa (Jason) Grup, Lindsay (Jason) Dillon, Lauren (fiancé Ray Gill) Thomas, Brianna (Raymond) Latiano and Alyssa Rogers; nine great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruthie Chapman.

In keeping with Al's wishes, private graveside services were held for the family. There were no calling hours. Memorials may be made in Al's name to either the Boys and Girls Club of Massillon or the Massillon Lion's Club.
