John E. Span
Age 54 of Massillon, passed away Monday evening at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Canton to the late John and Hilda Span he was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Paula Milano. A 1974 graduate of Perry High School, John then graduated from Stark State College with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed with Republic Steel Corporation and then Republic Storage Systems for 33 years. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish of Massillon, John's hobbies were fishing, weight lifting and restoring cars.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Stephanie (Ginella) Span; daughters, Julie (Jason) Mascaritolo of Cincinnati, Gina (Chad) Deeser of Massillon, Jillian Span of Columbus; grandson, Andrew John Mascaritolo; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pauline and Steve Ginella; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patti and Dan Joliat, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve and Charity Ginella, Mike and Lisa Ginella, Steve and Dawn Milano, several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am in St. Joseph Catholic Parish of Massillon with Rev. Fr. Raymond Paul celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John's name can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Parish, 330 4th St. S.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646 or the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum, 800 McKinley Monument Dr. N.W., Canton, Ohio 44708.
