Walter Sigler Obituary
Walter Henry Sigler
reunited with the love of his life, Margie on Aug. 7, 2012. We celebrate Dad's life which began Feb. 11, 1922, the son of William Walter and Ethel (Hayhurst) Sigler. Dad served with the 730th Railway Operating Battalion, Persian Gulf Command, from 1942 thru 1945. As a returning veteran of World War II, he celebrated the end of the war by making Margie Sulsberger his bride, on Oct. 14, 1945. He was a 41 year Pennsylvania, PennCentral Railroad conductor, a member of Fairhope United Methodist Church, and a Mason for 60 years. He was also a lifelong Louisville Leopard fan, and past Little Leopard president. He was blessed with four children sons, Jeffrey and wife, Cheryl, Mark and wife, Debbie, Robert and wife, Darcene. and daughter, Frances and husband, Jeff Schrader. Dad's passion included grandchildren, Ken (Kristie) Sigler, Kelsi (Chad) Pochubay, Meghan (Nick) Johns, Molly Sigler, Jesse (Lucia) Schrader, Dustin Sigler, Travis Sigler (fiance, Sarah McCartney), and Monica Sigler. Great-grandchildren are Gabe, Sam, Alexis, Kane, Isaac, Brexton, Brayla, Gavin and Isabella. His family would like to extend gratefulness to Dr. Bartram, Dr. Grossman, and Dr. Schuster; the caring professionals at Aultman Woodlawn, Aultman Compassionate Care, and Aultman Dialysis Units.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fairhope United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Wright officiating. Calling hours will be 5-8 p.m. Friday evening at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville and one hour before services at the church. Masonic services will be 4:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. After services on Saturday, Dad will make one more trip to Woodsfield, Ohio, where a graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Oaklawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
