Evelyn M. (Griesheimer) McLoney 1939-2016
age 77, of Norwalk, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born Feb. 5, 1939 in Massillon, Ohio, to the late William Jennings Griesheimer and Irene Hazel Mary (Tieche) Griesheimer. She was a graduate of Washington High School in Massillon and attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music. She served as organist at First Baptist Church in Oberlin, was a certified electroencephalogram Technician at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, and active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Norwalk, where she served as an Elder, church school teacher, clerk of session and Stephen leader. She was past president of the Huron County Medical Auxiliary and served on its historian and scholarship committee. Past chairman of the Firelands Chapter of the Red Cross, past chairman of the Norwalk Red Cross program, recipient of American Red Cross Clara Barton Award and co-chairman of the American Red Cross capital fund campaign. She enjoyed driving for Meals on Wheels, a lifetime member of Firelands Historical Society, and was a past recipient of the Norwalk Area Chamber of Commerce distinguished citizen award, 1996.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Sue and Philip Stormer, Gail Dawn and William Klein; son, Mark Allen McLoney, M.D. and life partner, Brian Keating; grandchildren, Kimberly Lee and Dillon Klein; great-grandchildren, Dominik Lee and Stella Lee; sister, Verna Ann (Griesheimer) Buchholz of Parma Heights.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 5–8 p.m. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd, Norwalk with the Rev. Adrian N. Doll officiating. Private interment will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in Minerva, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd., Norwalk, OH 44857, Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or one's favorite charity.
