Robert Kenneth Kennedy, age 76, died at his residence on Nov. 22, 2018. He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Julaine Jean (Hanson) Kennedy. They were married in Watertown, S.D., on Feb. 1, 1964.?
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a lance corporal for the 1st ReconBn,?1st MarDiv as a field radio operator.?He received an honorable discharge? and was transferred to the 9th Marine Corps Reserves. Robert received, in part, a Good Conduct medal,? Exemplary Service, NCO Certificate and Rifle Sharpshooter Medal.?
Robert earned several degrees ranging from a bachelor's degree to a Ph.D. He attended South Dakota State University and graduated with a bachelor's in botany/biology, Iowa State University with a master's in?plant ecology, Washington State University with a master's in ecology and earned a Ph.D. in ecology from the University of Oklahoma.
Robert published seven journals,?11 technical reports and many plant illustrations. He had a true gift for understanding nature.
In Robert' s chosen profession, he held many executive-level roles with U.S. companies in the field of environmental? remediation. Robert was accomplished in business and ?business ownership, and had several businesses based out of? Evergreen. Robert owned Two Crows Marketing, Master Printers and All-Season Gardener.
He is survived by his son Jason and his wife Michele of Castle Rock, and his daughter Sarah and her husband Nathan of Leander, Texas: grandchildren Dylan, Ashleigh, Darian, Madeline and Mallory; his brother John and his wife Brenda Kennedy of Redfield, S.D.; his sisters Jean Washam of Highlands Ranch, and Julie and her husband Robert Mitzven of LaMesa, Calif; and his sister-in-law Marcia (Charles) Kennedy of Yankton, S.D.
In addition to his wife Julaine, he was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Olive (Sampson) Kennedy, his brother Charles (Chuck) Kennedy, and brother-in-law Gene Washam.
A celebration of life for Robert "Bob" K. Kennedy will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, ?2019, from 1:15 to 3 p.m. at The Barn at Evergreen Memoria Park, 26624 N. Turkey Creek Road, Evergreen, CO 80439.
