Twila Fae Vance of Livingston, Mt., formerly of Evergreen, passed away on May 1, 2019, at Frontier Assisted Living in Livingston, Mt.
Twila was born in Nebraska, the daughter of Joseph and Coral Kubalek. Twila was formerly married to John Vance.
After a varied career as a beautician and owner of a western wear shop, Twila worked for many years for Jefferson County Public Schools, first as a special needs educator at Wilmot Elementary and then as the principal's secretary at Evergreen High School from 1994 to 2007, when she retired.
While a resident of Evergreen, she raised her children Rachelle (Shelly), Mark and Christine. Twila was an EMT with Evergreen Fire/Rescue and was the first woman to achieve the rank of captain in the department. She was active in the Evergreen Garden Club.
After retirement, she developed Alzheimer's disease and moved to Livingston, Mt., to be near her daughter Christine.
She is survived by her daughters Rachelle (Zane Phillips) and Christine Jarrett; her grandchildren Bremen (Kate) Vance, Jessica Jarrett, Justine Jarrett, Michael Phillips and Megan Vance; two great-grandchildren, Jade Jarrett and Oliver Vance; and her sisters Joanne and Terry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband John, son Mark and son-in-law Brad Young.
A private family remembrance will be held in her honor at her request. Memorial contributions may be made to The or Evergreen Bootstraps Scholarship Foundation.
