William Sheridan Obituary

BRAINTREE — William Joseph Sheridan Jr., 72, of Braintree and Bourne, died at his home in Braintree, on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007.

Born in Boston, Mr. Sheridan was a graduate of Mount St. Charles School in Rhode Island and Jamaica Plain High School. Subsequently, he received a degree from Newbury College in Boston.

Mr. Sheridan was a retired supervisor for the Boston Edison Co. He retired in 1996 after 35 years' service.

During the Korean War, he served with the Army. He was a past president of the Braintree National Little League, which became the East Braintree Little League. He was a Braintree resident from 1965, and he also resided in Bourne from 1997 until the present time.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Marie (Malone) Sheridan; five sons, William Peter Sheridan of Bridgewater, Dana Michael Sheridan of Braintree, David James Sheridan of Costa Mesa, Calif., Gary Edward Sheridan of Hanover, and Michael Patrick Sheridan of Braintree; two daughters, Lisa Marie Sheridan of Braintree, and Leanne Michelle Sheridan of Braintree; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of Joan S. Newcomb of Braintree.

Funeral will be held from the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington St., Braintree, on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 9:30 a.m., with a funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St., South Braintree Square, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visiting hours are Monday (Veterans Day), from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Bill was known for his devotion to his family and many friends.
