Doris Elizabeth DeVries

DENNISPORT — Doris Elizabeth DeVries (Wickwire), 80, of Dennisport and Jensen Beach, Nettles Island, Fla., formerly of Arlington, died on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010.

Doris was born in Medford, the daughter of the late George and Florence (Lovering) Wickwire. A lifetime resident of Arlington, Doris was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Arlington, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and playing the pipe organ during Sunday worship services.

While living in Dennisport, Doris often volunteered her time at the West Dennis Community Church's thrift store.

Doris worked at Buckingham, Brown and Nichols School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a medical secretary. Doris was an avid gardener and baker, who loved to play the organ, piano and accordion.

Doris is survived by her husband Richard, and their four children, Victoria (Sandra) of Watertown, Richard Jr. of Henderson, Nev., Sheryl of Swansea, and Robert of Northborough; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 10, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, in the Brewster Baptist Church, 1848 Main St., Brewster. Burial will be private.
