Cosmo DiNitto Obituary

MASHPEE — Cosmo H. DiNitto Sr., of Mashpee, formerly of Somerville, passed away in the Falmouth Hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008. He was 88.

Cosmo was the beloved husband of Mary A. (Ottaviano) DiNitto of 61 years.

Mr. DiNitto was born in Somerville, growing up in Cambridge. He was the son of the late Antonio & Civita (Ranucci) DiNitto.

During WW II, Cosmo served in the United States Army, in Company H, 410th Infantry Battalion, rank of PFC.

Cosmo worked for over 44 years for General Motors Corp. as a warranty clerk for the entire New England region, working from Woburn and Framingham. He was an active member of the U.A.W. (United Auto Workers). He was a communicant of Christ the King Church, in Mashpee.

Besides his loving wife, Mary, Cosmo is survived by his two sons, Cosmo H. Jr. of Mashpee, and John A. and his wife, Patricia, of Florida. He is also survived by his two brothers; Angelo, of California and Raymond, of North Reading, Mass.; four sisters, Mary Schwartz of Woburn, Doris Mizen of Cambridge, Flora Valente of Somerville, and Agatha Patrick of California; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 21, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave., at Route 151, Mashpee.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, in Christ the King Church, Mashpee Commons, Mashpee.

Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, in Bourne.
