RAYNHAM — Edward Maloof, of Raynham, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital, after being stricken ill.

Edward was the devoted husband of Kathryn (Dolan) for 59 years.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late George and Johanna (Sweeney) Maloof. He moved to Raynham 50 years ago, and summered at Sagamore Beach for many years.

Edward owned and operated The Landing Variety stores in Sagamore Beach and Eastham from 1956 until his retirement. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 30 years in the Boston area.

He was also an avid greyhound racing fan, working at the Raynham-Taunton Greyhound Park for more than 30 years. He raised and raced his own greyhounds.

In addition to his wife, he also leaves eight children, George of Eastham, Kathryn Ieada of Sagamore Beach, Paula Olson of Bridgewater, Peter of Weymouth, Thomas of Middleboro, Daniel of Middleboro, Philip of Easton, John of Lakeville; and 16 grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Mal Maloof.

Edward also leaves his sisters, Sally Harrington of Florida and Miranda Coffey of California. He was also the brother of the late Mary Noonan.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m., in the Copeland-MacKinnon Funeral Home, 38 Center St., Easton.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anne's Church, 660 N. Main St., Raynham, followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Maloof Family..my heartfelt sympathies to all of you. You were my childhood friends and schoolmates, and my heart broke when I heard of your Dad's passing.

I went to 4 C's with Danny and Tom. Both you brothers were great guys. Probably 2 of the nicest guys we all hung out with, so I know by the way you were, your parents had to have been really good people. Sorry about your DAD.
