Eleanor Roberts

EAST DENNIS - Eleanor Roberts, age 97, of East Dennis, and formerly of Milton, died peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at Bay Path Nursing Home in Duxbury.

Born in Middleboro, Miss Roberts attended Middleboro schools. She worked her entire career for New England Telephone Co., starting as a phone operator and retiring as a manager, preparing staffing estimates for the entire New England region.

Miss Roberts was an active member of the Pioneers, an organization of retired phone company employees. She retired to East Dennis, where she was active in the Dennis Senior Center through her 80s.

Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, quilting, reading and gardening. She was a seasoned traveler, heading to Panama, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, and most of the 50 states.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Anderson) Roberts of Milton; sister of Anne Murphy of Texas, John Roberts of Pennsylvania, and the late Charles Edward Roberts, Joseph I. Roberts Jr. and Robert Roberts. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Services will be private.
