Ernest Gavel Obituary
He was the beloved husband of Patricia (McDonald) Gavel for 45 years; the devoted father of E.J. and William L. Gavel of Tucson, Ariz.; the loving grandfather of Gregory J. and Jared W. Gavel; and the brother of Maureen E. Gavel of Cambridge.
Ernie was a graduate of the Brown & Nichols School in Cambridge and Bentley College. He was a Navy veteran, serving during the Berlin crisis.
He loved to sail and was a member of the Wianno Yacht Club.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Wianno Ave., Osterville, on Friday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Marstons Mills, on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nativity Preparatory School, 39 Lamartine St., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
