Frank Rockett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 9, 2008.
MARSTONS MILLS — Frank A. Rockett died at the age of 92 on Dec. 7, 2008.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anne E. Rockett; five children; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Frank was born in Portland, Maine, on Nov. 11, 1916. At the age of 2, Frank and his family moved to Belmont. Frank had two older siblings, Ed and Grace. Frank graduated from Bentley School of accounting and finance in 1937 and was later employed by International Harvester and Chrysler Corp.

In 1948, he married Anne E. Hogan. They moved in 1957 from Belmont to Concord, where Frank and Anne raised their five children, Frank A. Rockett Jr. of Redwood City, Calif., Richard E. Rockett of Newburyport, Elizabeth A. Bockser of Vancouver, Wash., Nancy R. Eldridge of Burlington, Vt., and Christine A. Geissler of Yardley, Pa.

Frank loved gardening and summer camping trips during his years on Monsen Road in Concord.

In 1972, Frank and Anne had a cottage built on "The Nubble" in York, Maine. The Rockett family spent many days at the beach and enjoyed walks to the lighthouse. Frank and Anne shared a love of golf and square dancing. They retired to Cape Cod in 1983. At that time, Frank took a great interest in baking.

His family fondly remembers his many Cinnamon Coffee Cakes. Another love of Frank's was singing and playing the piano. We all can hear him sing as he played "My Wild Irish Rose." We will all miss Frank's gusto for life, and the twinkle in his eyes.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Cape Regency Nursing Home for their years of loving care.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frank A. Rockett's name for research sponsored by the Multiple Sclerosis Society: National MS Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours are 9 to 10 a.m. in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Marstons Mills. Burial is in Mosswood Cemetery.
