I keep thinking about Gordon every now and then. Wow, 10 years has gone by since then. I was a long time friend being a diving helmet collector, and Gordon a hard hat diver. It was at a Maritime auction in Maine that got us connected. I bought a diving helmet that was missing a part on it, and Gordon went up to the auction folks and gave them a note with his name, address, and phone number, that he had the missing part. I called him when receiving the hat, that's what I call diving helmets " hats ", and he told me about his profession, a hard hat diver, wow. It was soon after that I was on a plane, at the time living in Puerto Rico, on my way to visit with him. So many years after that we kept in touch, I visiting him now and then, and he visited my place in Puerto Rico, to check out my museum of diving hats. I also knew his sister Dorothy Carpenteri. I sure miss you Gordon, and I'm wondering how the diving business is doing up there in your neck of the woods !!

I too worked with Gordon at Crandall Dry Dock Engineers in the 80's. He was a sincere and kindly man who was a great example to us younger guys on how to treat other people. We called him "Mother" because he always made sure we were dressed properly on our field jobs. I will always remember him fondly. Rest in Peace Gordon.

My Mother, who lives on the Cape, called me after seeing Gordon's notice. I also worked with Gordon (and Mike Corliss) for a number of years. He took such good care of Mike and I we used to call him "Mother". A wonderful man with a great sense of humor. Very sorry for your loss.

Hello Brian,
Thank you very much for your phone call, on the passing of your dad. I've known Gordon since the early 80's, he, locating me through a Maritime auction on the Cape. A dive helmet I bought was missing a part and he had it. From there, it was a nice long relationship for us both, many times with him visiting me here in Florida, and with me visiting him at his place. I will always have fond memories of your dad. He will be mentioned in my new book coming out soon.
All the best for you and the immediate family members,
Leon Lyons
