Herman Kent Obituary
Herman graduated from Brockton High School in 1948 from Vesper George School of Art in Boston in 1952.
He owned and operated the Dodge House Art Gallery in Chatham for over 20 years. His paintings are represented in New England and are in collections throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.
He was a longtime president of South Florida Chapter of the American Artists Professional League and a member of the International Society of Marine Painters. He was also a member of the Copley Society of Boston since 1970 with a C.A. (Copley Artist) status. He was a lifetime member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants.
He moved to Provincetown in 1999 to join the art colony there. He was a member of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum and represented by the Lyman-Eyer Gallery. He was also represented by the Wilson Art Gallery in Dennis for many years.
He is survived by a sister, Suzanne Kent, and niece Leslie Kent Simmons, both of McIntosh, Fla.; and cousins Sarah Emmons Warren of Newburyport and Abbie Emmons Penfield of Lyme, N.H.

My husband Bill and I were fellow graduates of BHS. I worked with him at Modern Theatre, me as a candy cashier, Kent as an usher. We were very close and visited each other at the Cape and in Florida. Kent would always send us a postcard at Christmas with a picture of his latest painting. He met many of our family members and was a dear friend. My husband Bill passed away last September 7th and I was unaware that Kent passed away as well. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and send my deepest sympathies to his family. He was a wonderful person.
