Larry Levine Obituary
Larry was born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 10, 1926, to Morris and Esther Levine.
He worked as a Liberty ship welder in Fall River in 1942. He raduated from New Utrecht High in 1944 then joined the Navy and served in WWII. After the war, Larry was a longshoreman before beginning his career in the fashion industry. He began in 1947 as a salesman for a coat manufacturer and eventually founded Larry Levine Inc. He designed and manufactured women's clothing for 45 years.
Larry and his family came to Dennis in 1960 and lived between Cape Cod, New York City and Sarasota.
In 1970 he and his wife, Emily, opened the Emily Lawrence Ltd. clothing store in Dennis. Subsequently they opened the Lawrence Shop for men, Emily's Beach Barn and branches of Emily Lawrence in Centerville, Norwich, N.Y., and Colorado.
Larry was a member of the Dennis Conservation Trust and the Dennis Yacht Club, and among the founding members the Cape Cod Museum of Fine Arts. His daughter Anne is a talk-show host on WOMR in Provincetown.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Emily Hosley Levine of Sarasota; and his daughter Anne Hall Levine of East Dennis. He was predeceased by his daughter Elena Esther, his son Richard Henry, and his sister Frances Levine Tucker. Larry also leaves behind two stepsons, Joseph (Kathleen) and Jeffrey Brillinger, two nieces, a nephew and a great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, at Toale Brothers Funeral Home in Sarasota, Fla. Interment will take place this summer in Quivett Creek Cemetery, East Dennis.

To the Levine Family: When B. Altman's was first in the Short Hills, NJ mall I purchased a lovely tweed coat w/belt in the back slung low, I had to talk myself into getting it as it was a long coat and a new style for me. I walked away from it 3-4 times before finally buying it and never regretted the choice. Still have and wear it. A great style. Always call it my Larry Levine coat. Condolences on the loss of your beloved. He is remembered fondly.

It's been about 30 years since I've seen you, but when I heard this terrible news today, I was at least heartened to learn there was a way I could contact you to offer my condolences.
After three decades, I have no doubt long since faded from your memory, but I'm glad to have the opportunity to tell you that your wonderful family has never faded from mine. Even to a precocious 13-year-old kid from Choate, it was obvious how much Larry loved his family and the pride he took in each of your accomplishments. All these years later, I can still remember him proudly telling me about Emily's Chinese cooking classes and calling everyone to dinner in "Em Lee's Kitchen." The fact that he so warmly welcomed me into your home made an impression which has truly lasted a lifetime. I feel very fortunate to have had the chance to know him even briefly, and I know how lucky you are to have had his love for so many years.

Dear "Aunt" Emily and Ann I was so sad to hear the news about "Uncle" Larrys' passing.
