To the Horkan family,

Sometimes in life you meet a person who you instantly love and respect. I met that person when I met your dad. I don't think that I was graced with his presents more than ten times, but I feel like I knew him my whole life, (unfortunily for me thats not true).

When he talked, he talked with passion. You knew that by the way he looked at you and how he would place his hand on your shoulder or arm when he expressed a thought.

You felt that you are the most important person in the room at that time.

I knew him a short time but those simple conversations that I had with him left a lasting impression of who he was as a man. You all were very lucky and blessed to have known him for a lifetime, it will serve you well to have been guided by a man like your dad.

Your friend,

Joe Vito

P.S. I would trade bent nails and old hinges with him anyday.
