Rolf Zinnack Obituary
Rolf Otto Zinnack died peacefully Tuesday, November 30, 2010, from complications of Burkitt's-like Lymphoma, at Brigham & Women's Hospital surrounded by family. Rolf was raised and educated in Dedham, Mass., graduating from Norfolk County Agricultural School, attending Wentworth Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Rolf was born July 23, 1940, to Rudolph and Eliesa (Wenzlaff) Zinnack.
Rolf is survived by three children, Michael, Bradley, and Patricia Zinnack, his longtime companion Carolyn Thomas, his brother Karl and his wife Lee, four grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, Joshua and Benjamin, three nieces and nephews, Karl, Kurt and Kimberly Zinnack and his beloved cat Derby.
Rolf's enjoyment of the Cape and the "Canal" is reflective in the simple joys which sustained him. The Maritime Academy was always part of his life. He enjoyed his Academy friends and observed the comings and goings of the training ship and the members of the Maritime staff. Rolf was a skilled mason and worked throughout the Cape. Rolf had an intense respect for members of the armed services, and contributed to many of their causes. We will miss Rolf.
Family and friends will hold a memorial service on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 4 p.m. with visiting hours from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home at 40 MacArthur Blvd., (Route 28), Bourne, MA. A gathering of friends will follow at the Mezza Luna Restaurant, 253 Main St., Buzzards Bay. Please join us.
