Elmer was a very funny guy. I was a lucky person to work for him, and get to know his family. I had the privilage of being very good friends with his granddaughter Shelly, and my sincerest regards go out to the entire family. He will be greatly missed.

Elmer,
Over the forty seven years that I have had the fortune to know you, you went from being the greatest fisherman ever, to a truly dear friend, a surrogate father and a mentor. You have taught me so many things over the years; the one that stands out the most is that "can't" is a four letter word.
The greatest gift you have given me is the extended family that I have as a result of knowing you. To Jackie and the rest of the family, I send my love and deepest sympathy.

To Aunt Jackie and All of the Costa Family:
I send this with the deepest of sympathy and prayers, that you all would find strength in your faith, enough to sustain you, until such time as we all meet him again on the docks of heaven.
May you find solace in knowing that this is not the end and He will be there with his smile, waiting for us all to test the waters!
All of our Love and Prayers,
Jeff & Susan Crabtree and Kids

I first meet Elmer in 1954 spent my summers at Rock Harbor, worked for him a few times on the Columbia and spent one summer working for him on the Three M"s with Ed Milliken. Rock Harbor will not be the same without him. Good Bye Elmer.

Captain Elmer will be remembered by all who ever fished with him, he now fishes in the great sea of heaven. Old fishermen never die they just run out of bait and time.
May the good Lord watch over his family at this trying time.

A piece of Cape Cod has left us, I know that I could not think of my years on the Cape without including my expierences with Elmer. He would be the first to offer help and give of his vast knowledge of fishing anytime I asked. Thank you Elmer.

My uncle Elmer was a Family Man. He helped me out when I needed help as a young girl giving me a job in the fish market and later Michelle my cousin and Uncle Elmer gave me a job when I was newly divorced and let me work in the restaurant. I will cherish the memories and miss him dearly. WITH LOVE, Donna Costa Gemborys, neice
