Evelyn Traylor
Evelyn L. Traylor, 92, of Davidsonville, died July 12 at Rutherford Manor Assisted Living Home in Davidsonville. She was born in 1919, in Enosburg Falls, VT, and graduated from Enosburg Falls High School in 1935. She then received a certificate from Becker Business College. Evelyn worked as a legal secretary in St. Albans, VT, and for the U.S. State Department from 1942 to 1947 as a World War II "government girl". In 1945, she attended a conference with the U.S. delegation in San Francisco, CA for the creation of the United Nations. She was also employed with the U.S. Department of Labor from 1966 to 1985. Evelyn was a 30-year attendee of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Cottage City, a volunteer in the Girl Scouts of America for over 10 years as a Brownie leader, and as a teacher of basketry and other crafts made of natural materials. She was also active in the Young at Heart senior citizens club for over 20 years. She was an expert seamstress, doll-maker, and baker. Because of her initials, she claimed to be the original "ET". She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George E. Traylor Jr., whom she married in Buffalo, NY in 1943. She is survived by her daughter, Jane M. Hauser and her husband John Hauser of Upper Marlboro; two granddaughters, Eleanor Cossa and Leanne Hauser; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and friends. Friends are invited to Evelyn's Life Celebration from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 23 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Partners in Care, 6 South Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122 or Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
