Myrtle J. Porter, 86, of Delray Beach, Fla. died June 24.

She was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Kingston, N.Y.

She graduated from State University of New York at New Paltz in 1945 and received her master's degree from Bowie State College in 1985.

She was an educator who taught 30 years in the Dept. of Defense School system in Europe. She enjoyed cooking, travel, volunteering and her grandchildren, Kathleen and Kevin. She was a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Bowie, the Maryland Opera Society, the Bowie/Crofton BPW and Soroptimist International.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Jr. of Boca Raton, Fla. and Gene of Manchester, N.H.; her brother, Doris Dabney and sister, Betty Williams, both of Kingston, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Monday, June 29, at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Bowie; interment in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville. Arrangements made by Beall Funeral Home.
