Richard Joseph Aufderheide, D.M.D., M.S.D., of Stevensville, MD, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2017. Born on April 10, 1966 in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, Dr. Aufderheide was the son of Mary F. Cocca and the late Augustine Robert Aufderheide, Sr. Rick grew up in Dayton, Ohio playing football for Archbishop Alter High School. After receiving his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Xavier University, he continued his education at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dentistry. This is where he met his bride of 23 years, Sarah Kettrick. Together they traveled to Case Western Reserve University for Dr. Aufderheide to attend graduate studies in Periodontics. Annapolis, Maryland is the location Dr. Aufderheide chose to open his periodontal practice in 1997. A passionate classic car collector who loved attending car shows, Rick continuously had a classic "fixer upper" in one of his garage bays. Dr. Aufderheide loved spending time with his wife and three beautiful children, especially at sporting events. As one of Dr. Aufderheide's favorite presidents, Ronald Regan, once said, "There are no constraints on the human mind, no walls around the human spirit and no barriers to our progress except those ourselves erect".
