Giovanni Lucente

Giovanni Saverio "John" Lucente was born on September 30, 1929. At the age of 86, John joined his Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Josephine Lucente; his children, Donna (Dave) Surber, Karen (John) Minzer, Lori (Wes Silver), Maria, Frank (Angee) and Lucretia (Mike Rupp) Lucente; his siblings, Frank Lucente, Jr. and Angela Ferguson; 15 grandchildren and their spouses, and one great-grandchild. Leaving behind a legacy that spans from his time in the U.S. Army to a career in home building, John spent his life working hard to establish an incredible life for his wife and children. In 1987, John and his devoted wife purchased a farm in Davidsonville, MD. Over the next decade, this farm became the family gathering place and home to many of his children and grandchildren. John leaves behind a bountiful legacy that will live on through the generations. Friends are invited to celebrate John's life with his family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 1 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 2 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
